Ving and his fellow PITMASTERS are a great bunch of guys who make training enjoyable in a great, friendly and professional atmosphere – and I would recommend the PIT as THE place to not only rebuild yourself but make new friends.
I was diagnosed with 2 spinal slipped disks and I had completely stopped doing free-weighted barbell squats – so seeing Irving stack the squat bar caused me to literally hyperventilate!! (I should say I almost fainted ‚ but that would be too embarrassing). After assurances, encouragement (lots of it) and advice on proper form and breathing ‚ I did it – my first barbell squat in 15 years! Over the weeks and months following, I felt myself getting both physically and mentally stronger. I now find myself with much less reservations about training heavy, aside from the occasional whine (which by the way would cost you $2) and actually look forward to getting into the gym – even dragging Ving in at 5.30am on the weekend!! Besides losing weight and feeling good overall, I have, through my new lifestyle, also reduced my cholesterol, triglycerides and blood sugar. My next goal is to get down to 80kgs and off the statins in 6-12 months! The PIT is really about a no bullshit, full-on training experience. I would have said “no nonsense” but there’s plenty of that – humour and pranks ‚ all good! Ving and his fellow PITMASTERS are a great bunch of guys who make training enjoyable in a great, friendly and professional atmosphere – and I would recommend the PIT as THE place to not only rebuild yourself but make new friends. What I’ve learned though, is don’t take yourself too seriously – but take your training seriously ‚ and leave your ego at the door (or that will really take a beating!)
